Mike McFarlane

Mike first played football with the Port Melbourne Colts (1981-1984) when he was living in Australia. It was there that he developed his skills and passion for the game. While with the Colts, Mike won two Premierships. Upon returning many years later, Mike again became involved with Australian football, this time with the Vancouver Cougars. Mike played with the Cougars during the 2001-2003 season, winning another two Premierships.

Mike was a member of the 2001 and 2002 Northwind, playing in both the Atlantic Alliance Cup and the first International Cup in Melbourne. From 2003-2005, Mike was an Assistant Coach with the Northwin and travelled with the team to Melbourne in 2005.

Mike has been on the AFL Canada board since 2002 as the representative for BC and in 2004, became the President of AFL Canada. Mike also created the first junior competition in Canada, the North Delta Junior Football League in 2002 and has been President and Head Coach ever since. In 2006 Mike stepped back from the Northwind senior program to focus on his other duties. Mike remains an active talent scout for the senior team.
