Mark Block

Mark has been involved with Australian football in Canada since 1990 when he joined the Toronto Panthers/Eagles.

Player Achievements:

  • Northwind Captain, 2001-2002
  • played 12 international games (10 for Northwind)
  • won nine Premierships
  • Toronto Eagles Captain, 1997-2002, Assistant Captain, 1991-1996
  • OAFL Best and Fairest, 1990, 1993
  • played in 154 club matches (4th in games played lifetime in Canada)
  • played in six all-star games

Mark retired from play after the 2002 season, ending a fine playing career with the Eagles winning their ninth Premiership. Mark was Assistant Coach of the Eagles and in 2003 took over the role of Head Coach. 2006 witnessed the Eagles win their tenth Premiership and Mark Block's first as a coach.

In November 2006, the AFL Canada board confirmed the appointment of Mark to that of Northwind Head Coach. Mark looks forward to the challenge of building a winning Northwind team on the road to Melbourne in 2008.
