Team Canada
The Northwind is Canada's national Australian football team. The team plays in international tournaments and exhibition matches against other countries. Northwind players are selected from the best Canadian-born players from the club teams across the country.
2007 Northwind team in Houston, USA
2007-08 Program
Northwind had a good winter training camp as part of its two months preparation for an exhibition match with the USA Revolution in Houston, Texas in January 2007. The 24-player team was filled with a mix of veteran players and eager newcomers looking to solidify a spot on the national team. Northwind came up on the short end of a 34-8 game in cold, rainy conditions.
Northwind will resume training during the spring before having a rematch against the USA in Vancouver in August 2007. Japan will also participate in the event which will take place at Thunberbird Stadium.
In August 2008, Northwind will travel to Melbourne, Australia to participate in the 2008 International Cup. Canada will play several games during the two-week tournament against teams such as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Great Britain.
